Terms of Use

Effective 16 October 2026Developer: Sintiossupport@sintios.com

Lamplight is not an emergency service. It does not contact the police, ambulance, fire service or any emergency responder, and it does not monitor you in real time. Alerts can be delayed or never arrive. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number (for example 112 in Europe, 911 in the US, 999 in the UK) immediately.

1. Agreement

By downloading or using Lamplight ("the app") you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). If they conflict, the Standard EULA applies to the extent required by Apple. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. What Lamplight does

Lamplight is a wellbeing check-in tool. It notices when a protected person's phone has shown no sign of activity for a period they choose, asks that person whether they are OK, and, if they don't respond, sends a push notification to contacts they invited. It is a convenience that may help someone notice sooner. It is not a medical device, a personal emergency response system, a fall detector or a substitute for professional care.

3. Limits you must understand

Alerts depend on many things outside our control. An alert may be late, may not be sent, or may not be received if, for example:

  • a phone is off, out of battery, offline, or has notifications, Focus or background activity restricted;
  • Apple's push notification service, the internet, or our hosting provider has an outage;
  • the app has been deleted, permissions were revoked, or settings (pause, quiet hours, a long quiet period) delay checks;
  • a contact doesn't see, can't act on, or chooses not to respond to an alert.

By design, Lamplight waits for your chosen quiet period (12 to 48 hours) plus about two more hours of prompts before contacts are alerted, and our server checks only every 15 minutes. Each notification is sent once and is not automatically retried if delivery fails. False alarms are also possible, for example if you leave your phone at home.

Do not rely on Lamplight as your only safety measure, particularly if you have a medical condition, a high risk of falls, or another reason you might need urgent help. Consider a dedicated emergency alarm, regular in-person contact, or professional care.

4. Your responsibilities

  • Only invite people who have agreed to be your contacts, and tell them what an alert means and what you'd like them to do (for example, call you, visit, or call emergency services).
  • Keep notifications enabled, keep the app installed, and keep your settings up to date. Pause checks or use the right mode when you travel or will be away from your phone.
  • Contacts take part voluntarily. Neither we nor your contacts are under any obligation to respond to an alert.
  • If you want to stop, delete your account in the app before deleting the app, so contacts aren't alerted by mistake.

5. Acceptable use

Lamplight is for people to share their own wellbeing status with people they trust. Don't use it to monitor or locate someone without their knowledge and consent, to harass anyone, to send false alerts deliberately, to interfere with or overload our service, or to break the law. Don't reverse engineer the app or its server except where the law allows it. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service.

6. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU/UK, or the age of digital consent in your country) to use Lamplight, or use it with a parent's or guardian's permission.

7. Free version, Lamplight Pro and payments

  • Contacts can use Lamplight for free. A protected person can use the free version with one contact and the daily mode.
  • Lamplight Pro unlocks additional features, such as up to five contacts, additional modes (such as First Date, Walk Home and Solo Travel), history and custom settings. Features may change over time; we won't remove a core paid feature without reasonable notice.
  • Pro is available as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription, which may include a free trial. Prices are shown in the app and on the App Store before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com).

8. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep the service running, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we decide to shut the service down, we will give reasonable advance notice in the app where possible.

9. Privacy

How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Intellectual property

The app, its design and content belong to us or our licensors. These Terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the app and service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any harm, injury, loss or damage arising from an alert that was delayed, not sent, not delivered, not noticed or not acted on, from a false alarm, or from your reliance on the app instead of emergency services or other safety measures.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be excluded by law, including statutory rights in the EU, UK and Türkiye, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence and wilful misconduct.

12. Termination

You can stop using Lamplight at any time by deleting your account in the app. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously breach these Terms.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country where Sintios is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring claims in your local courts.
